The Start of Something Great

I’ve always had a passion for music, film, and tinkering with electronics; but my desire to design custom A/V systems didn’t start until college. While attending The University of Iowa, I landed a great job at Iowa City’s local custom audio shop. I learned a great deal about the A/V business and what potential the industry had. I worked my way through school and graduated with the intent of honing my skills in the A/V industry. My wife and I eventually moved to Texas when she was accepted to graduate school. From there, I worked in all aspects of the A/V world. Sales, custom install, design integration, system programmer, and consulting have all been apart of my industry experience. Ultimately, I grew tired on the company politics and creative restrictions and so I decided to start my own business with a new and modern business philosophy. Obviously no person can do it all, so I’m grateful to have such terrific installers who love music and film as much as I do. We are lucky to be doing what we love and can’t ask for a better city to live, work, and play in. Austin Rocks!

If you’re involved in Austin’s music scene it’s no surprise that working and playing in the “Live Music Capital of the World” has its rewards. Music may have stolen our hearts, but chain lube runs through our veins. All of us at Audio Zeal love to ride; plain and simple. As a matter of fact, when one of our installers needed a heart valve replacement, he asked the surgeon if he had a choice between presta and schrader. Respect for the Movie Sound Designer

Make no mistake, if you admire the talent, dedication, and creativity that goes into making music, then you have to respect the artistry that goes into creating movie sound tracks. People often think of movies as solely a visual experience, but a meaningful sound track mixes the three essential audio ingredients of any film: the human voice, sound effects, and music. These combine to create the emotional backbone of the film. The results can be ground shaking or even subtle, but no modern movie can succeed without proper sound design.(Would Star Wars ever be the same?)

(Bear in mind, the music and movie industry was created for your enjoyment. Try to look past the techno babble and industry hype and remember to have fun. If a system gives you goose bumps, you know you’re on the right track.)
